Amy Rose- Into the Darkness

  Part 1
  
     Shadow stared in to the oblivious darkness ahead of him, not knowing what to think of himself. Why did she do that, for me? The conundrum of why she would suffer a fate worse than death was too much for him to solve. Does she really care that much about me?

Prologue

    Amy Rose stared out her bedroom window wondering about the events that occurred the day before. It's crazy that something like that would happen, after it had been destroyed, she thought. The previous day, Shadow had discovered a piece of the Scepter of Darkness which had been abolished several years ago. Ever since, Shadow has been moody and sharp. Maybe I should see what he is up to, she thought.

    Shadow was as usual, organizing his collection of weapons. He looked rather exhausted, and he kept looking at the broken shard of the scepter at regular intervals.
    "Hey, Shadow." Amy greeted Shadow. Shadow just snorted in approval, for he preferred to be left alone. Amy was disappointed because of Shadow's grouchy mood so she tried not to bother him so much, yet she wanted to ask him the urgent question she was to embarrassed to ask. She could also sense the awkward presence in the atmosphere around them. "Umm . . . Shadow, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while now . . . I mean, what Sonic did made me realize-"
    "Yes?"
    "That he was a jerk and that I sort of . . . Well I think that I . . .'
    "Amy?" He stared at her questioningly.
    "Well I think that I might just-" Amy was cut of when a strange mass of darkness seemed to appear around the piece of the scepter.
    "Oh . . . No . . ." Shadow slowly backed away from the scepter, but nothing really seemed to happen. Amy was stunned; she wasn't exactly sure that she was seeing what was in front of her eyes.
    "Shadow?"
    "Nevermind it . . . Just forget about the scepter . . . Now, you were saying?"
    "Well Sonic was being a jerk that one time . . . And you've been very nice to me . . . I was just going to say that I think that I like you a little bit . . ." The words just seemed to sputter out of her mouth, which to her, was quite embarrassing.
    "You do?" He said almost whispering. He was shocked.
